SERVICE HISTORY /

Future Unknown

The Monitor NCC-301197, a Kirk Class Cruiser, wrapped in mystery and circumstances beyond our ability to determine. From what survived on the ship, salvage crews determined the ship served for nearly 20 years from 3044 to 3061 where it was mothballed and a majority of its equipment removed.  Records recovered failed to reveal much more, with the ship’s honors, crew records and journeys lost to the future.

Lost at Sea

One surviving log, the final records in the ship’s computer before it arrived in 2411, involved the towing of the Monitor and the installation of an experimental non-dilithium stardrive sometime in 3064.  The ship was rigged with simple automation and tested as part of series of projects.  While promising, on May 11th 3064 the experimental star drive & Monitor 301197 experienced a series of cascading failures corrupting the systems on board and it disappeared from the 31st century.

Rediscovery and Recovery

The Monitor arrived sometime in 2409, damaged and dead in space. Her iconic black hull hiding the ship in the Nekrit Expanse of the Delta Quadrant until June of 2410 where a Science ship attached to the Titan/4 Squadron discovered the hulk on a survey mission as part of the Delta Initiative.  Recognizing the wreck as from the future, Adm. Chase prioritize its secretive salvage.  Due hostile Vaadwuar & the impending Iconian War, the clandestine salvage went slowly, moving the ship under cover until it was finally and successfully towed to a 8WTF/SF research lab in deep into the DeltaQ corridor.

Sadly, much of the future technology was damaged beyond repair but its one of a kind space frame remained fit for space travel.  Given the size of the ship, the decision was made to begin refit of the ship and its systems with modern technology.  Future technology, what was left, was nearly completely removed and replaced as well.

Relaunch

In the autumn of 2411, with its refit completed, the USS Monitor was returned to service under its original registry and assigned to the Titan/4 Squadron as a Guided Torpedo Cruiser retaining her iconic cast-iron black hull.  An imposing presence in engagements
